Avoid pulling the batteries on the floor because that way can contaminate groundwater.
They're considered very toxic button batteries, i.e. those used in watches. For example, if these batteries are thrown away with the trash and reach the groundwater can contaminate 600,000 liters of water that many people drink.
It can be done in a more simple battery filling bottle with water and then buried. That way the water absorbs the acid removes the battery, and does not pollute. In some countries these bottles filled with filler cells are used on the roads.
